School Board Budget to Slash Elementary Art Teacher Positions

As I understand it, the current budget before the school board removes two art teacher positions to make ends meet, which may end up meaning little or no art education at all for elementary schools. The Beacon middle school already is missing full art coverage of even one teacher for students in those years.. For those of you who have children in the Beacon Public Schools at any level, if this is unacceptable to you, please contact your principal, the superintendent and the school board members… Continue

Hey Cabot!
So I'm getting some great books--let me know what's good time to connect with you. I will be bringing the first batch up to Albany by the end of next week. There's even a shout out for westerns, mysteries and books about hockey--who knew? But anything is good because right now everybody's read through the existing 5 books there.

HI Cabot,

Thanks for the note. I do appreciate it. I'm normally not one to go back and forth posting and commenting, but the whole idea of exclusion of 'art' because you don't like it is ridiculous to me. Also, Stephanie and Sabine from Fovea were the first people I met here, and when I was looking into moving to Beacon and saw that Fovea existed it made the decision to move here even more solid.

I went to one BAS meeting in June, but obligations took me away from the other meetings. I'll try to stop by again, as I like the idea of artistic minded people coming together. - Erin
