Yeah, Marilyn! I'm doing it to. Should be fun. I'm sure I'll see you before then, at craft nite, though...

Hi Everyone! Just wanted to plug an event I'm doing in Fishkill a the end of the month. There isn't an actual website but here is the event link on Facebook (hope it works) http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=414320655626 It's the 2nd Annual Social Pariah Festival at the Holiday Inn on Rt 9. There's going to be music, tattoo artists, vendors, and a lot more. Let me know if you have any questions!

FYI Discovered this searching around Craig's List -- thought it might interest members who are designers. Retail Boutique Seeks Designers (Lower East Side - 40 Clinton St btw Stanton & Rivington) Products in the shop being sold vary from women's and men's clothing, accessories and jewelry. Currently about 20 designers.

What about the store Clay Wood & Cotton? Reminds me of the Bee Hive artisans Co-op in Mt Kisco - terrific selection and set up?! Why isn't this store mentioned here or did I miss something maybe?! Or because it's advertised elsewhere?

Whoops, just realized this. So sorry.

Should we maybe start a new Discussion on this topic (Co-op/market) instead of leaving comments about this on the Wall?

Might be helpful to check out the Franchise/Concept info ? http://www.beehiveco-op.com/corp-franchise-concept.asp Antiques co-ops do well - some of them have been in business so long. Whether or not the people make money or how it's set up varies. I sold vintage clothing and accessories in one in Cold Spring and in Tarrytown 10+ years ago. The owner didn't require any of the dealers to spend time at the cash register or in the store but some dealers were there to bargain and answer questions every Fri-Sat - Sun. Anyhow.... the more the merrier with regard to ideas, feedback, suggestions, complaints, etc

Hey, you're welcome. Great that Shambhala offered the space for the Holiday Craft Fair, also from what I could gather that Kelly organized and set that up for everyone last year. The market is worth investigating if enough people are interested and would rent space. I love the idea of making a "go to destination" for everyone like that marketplace in Brooklyn. I don't know Beacon well enough yet to suggest a space though. Here's a place I've been to that is beautiful, small, impressive, and still in business despite the terrible economy. This is a franchise, though. For someone with the money to invest I've thought this such a good idea like for Great Barrington, MA or Saratoga Springs, NY. I don't know if this would be good for Beacon but something similar, more relaxed and easy going, maybe?
http://www.beehiveco-op.com/ I looked into this right after it opened in Mt. Kisco for someone I know who has 3 daughters who'd get involved plus herself but they never followed through (risky in a bad economy). Would something similar or this type of venue be perfect for Beacon?

I appreciate it! Thanks, Barbara. I would also be interested in participating in a craft, art , vintage market.I love the idea.

So sorry if I did anything wrong by putting that CERF info on yesterday.

Thought the list of all the professional programs and grants to help crafters and artists was comprehensive and helpful.
